I met with my CPAP medico today. He suggested that I change to a Bipap machine. I cannot employ confront mask – Have tried several. I use nostril cushions. While I'k sleeping on either my right or left side, two don't think I have any leaking. However, when I coil over on my back, I tend to do some mouth breathing. Mouth becomes very dry out at times. My question is- will the biped motorcar help me more to reduce episodes of momentarily stopping breathing than the CPAP.
    Cheers for your response

Guys it's like you lot are looking so hard to notice something wrong. Take your sleep specialist lodge and quit trying to exist smarter then them. I accept looked at to many responses and it appears we equally laymen are way smarter than the specialist. Let's follow what they recommend and if information technology doesn't work accept a one on one. Whenever y'all post crappy stuff y'all are really hurting and so many people because it scares them. Actually stupid I say try what they say and if non working have a expert sit talk with your md. They are experts and volition adjust setting to make you comfy. Usually nothing works on start endeavour. They will get it right. More than people dice from non compliance then a doctor not doing the right setting. Look yous can just pull the mask off if information technology doesn't experience right. Then all these then called experts you are reading is only giving you lot anxiety and not wanting you you to comply. Go through this with me. Starting in a couple of weeks. Accept done cpac merely I need bipac I'll be hither for you lot on both.

Thank you for your post! I have recently been diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and it has terrified me, CPAP isn't working for me yet! I need positive input from those who have been at that place before me!

I had an in house sleep report, they said I was having quite a bit of leg movements and 45 apneic events per hour. They set my rate at xiv PEEP. They also said information technology was "mixed" apnea (part primal and part obstructive). She said I was not getting any REM sleep. I keep to have a high AHI (12-19/hr.) and feel as though I am still not resting. I feel like I am non exhaling completely. Should I inquire with my md about bipap? I am thinking that raising my CPAP rate will make it even more difficult to exhale?

  12. Micahel Respond

WTF..I have been using a CPAP religiously for 9 years. of the 9 i think the get-go twelvemonth and a half i was benefiting from information technology. I have complained for the residual of the fourth dimension trying to go a test with the BIPAP to no avail. what can i do or say to make this happen?

  13. Graham Reply

I currently use a CPAP and suffer from farthermost bloating. Even with the water tank in use I suffer with a dry oral fissure and occasional dizziness. My motorcar is "auto set" and apparently is not adaptable. Is this correct ?

    • Bearding Reply

I have a bipap and in the past had a cpap. They both record all your sleeping patterns and are monitored by my sleep specialist on if its working or non. I find that since irresolute to bipap i sleep so much better

    • Paul M Reply

No, merely the reverse is truthful. If maximum and minimum inhalation and exhalation pressures are set the same on a BiPAP auto y'all've effectively turned it into a more than expensive CPAP machine. One affair that isn't mentioned here is that BiPAP is too used to care for central sleep apnea. This is where the encephalon literally forgets to tell the trunk to breathe. I don't know why using 2 unlike pressures helps with central sleep apnea, I just know that I have both central and obstructive apnea and my BiPAP auto finally lets me get restful sleep.

Accept your doctor send you to a slumber specialist. They may prescribe a sleep study, which should be done in a hospital or slumber eye rather than at home. The home tests are much more convenient but do not provide the dr. with ALL the information for a proper diagnosis.

Please go on in mind if you lot dont have anything only medicaid, these slumber study hospitals and clinics volition say you need a c-pap just to get paid, when you truly cannot use a c-pap and need a bi-pap. at the expense of your encephalon and entire body including all your organs eventually shutting down completely, and sometimes even expiry while sleeping. I know this considering after nearly four years of fighting to get what i need and still not having the bi- pap yet, i now take no memory left and all my unabridged organs and wellness is bad.

most cpap machines you tin change it yourself. if you lot believe its that critical i would only do a utube search on the how to and get information technology done. push and agree which 2 buttons is all you need to know. hint; most just have ii buttons.
      hope that helps

I'm curious why my dr. didn't society the Bipap instead of the cpap. in reading it looks similar the bipap would have been better suited for me, since i do take COPD, and had lung cancer in 2013 with the removal of lower left lobe of my lung. a bit confused

    • Anonymous Respond

BiPap is considerably more expensive and needs more monitoring than is considered safe in a home. CPAP is generally set information technology and leave it.

My dry out mouth was solved by wearing a chin strap. This keeps my oral fissure from opening during the nighttime.

Many people used to discover bipap more comfy than cpap. That was during the olden days. Now, the new CPAP machines have settings that allow them to be more than comfortable. C-flex and similar technologies have revolutionized how we make cpap more than comfortable for patients.

South-Manner is spontaneous mode and is the normal, default manner no changes to charge per unit or anything.
ST-Style is spontaneous timed mode. this way will kick in an extra jiff if the patient's respiratory rate falls below the fix "dorsum up rate."
T-Style is timed fashion. this manner is almost like a ventilator in that it automatically gives the patient the exact number of breaths that is programmed, or input.
